The Saugerties Village Tree Commission is devoted to making the Village of Saugerties green, shady and healthy, one tree at a time.
Nothing is more inviting to visitors, or as lovely for residents then the charming, tree-lined streets of a small town. Trees contribute to the quality of air, reduce noise and visual pollution, moderate climatic extremes and conserve energy, as well as providing visual beauty and a quiet place of shade. Organized community tree programs are the most effective way to make sure village trees are protected and maintained, contributing to vibrant urban growth. This website is devoted to keeping the Saugerties community, our welcomed visitors, and local public officials up to date with SVTC events and activities.

SVTC has worked hard and accomplished so much in five short years! Take a look at how far we've come:
- Planted more than 70 trees in the last 5 years.
- Qualified for Tree City USA status designation for Saugerties Village, a requirement for grant funding.
- Hosted annual Arbor Day events in partnership with the community, often alongside local school programming.
- Received grant funding for an exhaustive Village Tree Inventory, identifying trees in need of pruning or removal.
- Received grant funding to execute pruning of all our mature trees, giving them an extra lease on life.
We just finished up our first annual ART for TREES fundraiser, an online art sale carried out solely on our Facebook and Instagram pages. All work has been donated by our generous artists family and all proceeds go to the SVTC and allow us to plant more trees in the village. We're extending it for one more month here on our website.
